The Future of the Admirals Quay Development is Secured

The future of a major planned development in Southampton has been secured.

The Admirals Quay development in Ocean Village will include new apartments, retail and restaurants, creating new jobs and investment in the popular harbour area.

Southampton City Council was delighted with the news that Barratt Homes has sold the site to Southampton based Allied Developments, who will now take the development forward.

What Ocean Village was meant to look like

THE boss of the Carphone Warehouse has ridden to the rescue of an abandoned flagship development in Southampton.

Barratt Homes has sold its waterfront Admiral’s Quay site to Southampton based Allied Developments.

Just three of a planned row of five blocks of flats and two of up to ten restaurants and bars have been built at the Ocean Village development.

Could the entrance to Ocean Village look better?

Is it just me or do you also think that the entrance to Ocean village could do with a revamp? In particular I just cannot understand why the council (or perhaps MDL) would position an ugly sign right in front of the logo. Surely that could have been positioned elsewhere and still have served the same purpose? I think that the entrance itself is a little bland and now that the Calshot spit lighthouse has gone, it all looks a little drab, but that signpost really annoys me.

Visitors to Ocean village have complained to me that there are no roadside signs guiding them towards Ocean Village. If the council intend to promote Ocean Village as a place to visit then perhaps this should be given some serious consideration. Some of those brown tourist signs on the main roads would be good. Visitors shouldn’t have to struggle to find the place.

Ocean Village HotelOcean Village Resorts Limited have recently applied for an extension to the existing planning planning permission (previously granted) to build a hotel within Ocean Village, between the new Splash development (Linden Homes) and the Arts Cinema (Harbour Lights).

Careful Where You Park!

Numerous new signs have gone up around Ocean Village in the last week as MDL looks to reinvigorate it’s efforts to enforce parking restrictions. As part of this exercise the contract for enforcement has been passed on to the Legion Group.
