Policing the Waterfront – December 2011 Update

Hampshire Constabulary logoPolicing for Ocean Village Marina and our neighbourhood is provided by the Southampton City Waterfront Team. City Waterfront is one of three city teams, the others being City Centre and City Polygon, which together make up the larger Central Southampton West Sector.

The current policing priorities for the City Waterfront team are:

  • Reduce anti-social behaviour and street drinkers, particularly in area of Queensway and High Street
  • Street drinkers in the High Street, Oxford Street (associated with night time economy)
  • Reduce anti-social behaviour in alleways and other areas near to the High Street and Canute Road
  • Cycling on pavements in Above Bar, Canute Road and the High Street.

These priorities were set at the PACT (Police and Community Together) priority setting meeting which took place on Wednesday June 15th. The next PACT meeting will take place at 7pm on Wednesday 14th December at the Salvation Army Booth Centre on Oxford Street. This is an opportunity for residents, businesses and the police to discuss the problems that affect us all, and how we can work together to make our community a safer place in which to live and work. If you think there should be other priorities then please go along and share your views.

In addition the team also provide regular beat surgeries and coffee mornings where you can meet the team:
